What Are Mizani Hair Products?

I was introduced to Mizani hair products a few years after I became a licensed hairstylist while working at JCPenney Salon.

If you are a seasoned stylist, you may remember when JCPenney had a salon, which later became InStyle Salon.

Anyway. The salon carried a lot of Mizani products, but since I was still a new hairstylist, I wasn’t educated on product knowledge. But that didn’t stop my curiosity.

Mizani started their company in 1991 in Chicago. Founder Terri Gardner saw a need for salon-quality hair products for the black community to serve all curls and coils, and it did not disappoint.

This brand was created for the spontaneous black woman who loves to switch up her style from braids to silk outs, and wigs to twists.

Whatever your style may be from one week to another, Mizani is made to cater to what we call, “the switch up”.

They have a huge variety of products that range from Press Agent Thermal Smoothing, the 25 Miracle Collection, True Textures, Moisture Fusion, and more.

If you are looking for a brand to carry in your salon, that will cover all of the basics and then some, Mizani is a great brand for that.

25 MIRACLE MILK LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER

What Is Mizani Miracle Milk Leave-In Conditioner?

Being one of the stars of the show, the Mizani 25 benefits leave-in conditioner is a lightweight conditioner that moisturizes, repairs, and detangles the hair.

It also protects the hair from heat damage, with up to 450 degrees of protection.

It penetrates down to the cortex of the hair strands, which is great for hydrating and repairing the hair from the inside out.

It comes in a spray bottle that is easy to spray onto your client’s hair.

The texture is like a liquidy, creamy base when sprayed on your hand or on the hair. So it is best to shake it up before you spray it.

What Does The Mizani 25 Miracle Milk Do?

  • Moisturizes dry hair
  • Reduces frizz on wavy, curly, and coily hair
  • Heat Protectant for up to 450 degrees
  • Provides slip to help detangle the hair
  • Penetrates and repairs the hair deep into the cuticles

How To Use It?

When you apply this product to your client’s hair, make sure it is clean and damp. If you are prepping for a silk press, spray this on your client’s hair before you blow dry.

Make sure to section the hair first, and then apply.

If you are prepping for a haircut, section off the hair and apply. This will give the hair enough slip to glide through the hair easier and faster.

What Hair Types Is It For?

Mizani Miracle leave-conditioner is great for all hair types.

For naturally straight hair (type 1), this is great for controlling flyaways, providing moisture, and repairing damaged, split ends. And let’s not forget about it being a great leave-in to give the slip you need during haircuts.

For wavy hair (type 2), this will control frizz, help detangle the hair, and provide hydration and restoration.

When it comes to curly hair (type 3), this will be a big help in controlling that darn frizz. Curly hair and frizz come hand in hand. So this will be your go-to for that.

Oh, and let’s not forget its detangling properties. You will need this when it comes to detangling and sectioning off the hair during prep.

For the infamous coily hair (type 4), moisture, moisture, and more moisture. Let’s say it again for the people in the back.

You will need this to give the hair the moisture it needs to stay hydrated during prep and styling time.

What Are The Ingredients In Mizani Miracle Milk Leave-In?

The key ingredients that make this product great are coconut oil and fennel seed oil. Cocos nucifera oil/coconut oil helps repair split ends, penetrates and strengthens the hair cuticles, helps tame frizz, and fights off dandruff.

Fennel seed oil stimulates hair growth, repairs and strengthens the hair, and gives it moisture.

Helianthus Annuus Seed Extract/Sunflower Seed Extract is loaded with vitamin E and omega 9 fatty acids that help fight frizz, prevent a dry scalp, and stimulate hair growth.

Olea Europaea Oil/Olive Fruit Oil is packed with omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, vitamin E, and K that help with taming frizzy, dry hair. Olive oil is great for preventing hair breakage, split ends, and dullness.

Camelina Sativa Oil/Camelina Sativa Seed Oil is something I haven’t heard much about until now. After research, I learned that camelina sativa seed oil, also known as “gold of pleasure oil”.

It is a plant with tiny yellow to greenish flowers that is grown in North America, South America, New Zealand, and Australia.

It also contains omega-3 fatty acids, similar to castor oil, which aid in a healthy, flake, and irritated-free scalp, repair damaged cuticles (split ends, chemical or mechanical damage, etc..), and provide moisture.

Did you say Melanin?

Lastly, the ingredient list contains “melanin”. Now I know what melanin is but listed as an ingredient??? I was confused until I started digging on the internet.

So apparently, this ingredient is used for its protectant and anti-aging properties. But the real question is, how is it extracted and from what?

According to Science Direct, “Melanin can be extracted from animal and plant by-products or produced by microbial fermentation, involving five extraction and purification methods”.

But aside from how gross this sounds, it seems to have many benefits including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, hypoglycemic, and anti-hyperlipidemia effects.

Not only added in beauty products, but in food items as well, such as spaghetti, cookies, candies, and others.

So to wrap this all in a bow, Mizani 25 Benefits Leave-in comes with 25 benefits and then some.

It’s safe to say that after reviewing some of the key ingredients and their benefits, this leave-in conditioner is well-rounded and has zero room for error.

Here is the complete list from Mizani
