A few weeks ago, I went to a tea party on a bus with my sister in Atlanta. I was the only girl with locs and pearls on the bus, and that’s okay. I thought I was cute, I fit the theme of a tea party aesthetic, and I had fun doing so.

Pearls

I believe the chunky stacked pearls are what sold this outfit. The white and black striped cocktail dress is a tea party staple, essential in my opinion, and the pearls added to it gave it the look.

I bought these pearls for my wedding day. I wore a simple off-white long dress and the pearls were a great addition to my look. Even though that was almost 6 years ago, I kept the pearls in great condition. Thankfully, because my tea party attired needed it.

Locs

I’ve had my locs for 4 years this year. I did a fresh retwist two days before the tea party and thankfully, the style lasted for the big day. I was the only one with locs on the tea party bus. But I got many compliments on my hair during the ride.

One girl said she loved my hair and couldn’t wait til her locs were long like mine. She also asked my advice, and I told her patience would be her best friend. I can remember starting my locs when my hair was only 5 inches long, stretched.

So to know that I’ve stuck it out for 4 years is an accomplishment.
