If you have a very dry and itchy scalp, you need a conditioner that will moisturize and soothe it instantly! One of my favorite haircare brands, Design Essentials, has a conditioner that stimulates the scalp while hydrating and nourishing hair strands.
Their Rosemary and Mint Conditioner was a staple in my salon and my clients raved about it every time. So it will do the same for you.
Let me tell you what the hype is all about below.

Rosemary & Mint Conditioner
This stimulating moisturizing conditioner helps restore moisture to the hair while treating dry, itchy, and inflamed scalp. Since you are looking for a moisturizing and stimulating two-in-one conditioner, this is the best one I recommend to you.
Scalp Stimulating
The peppermint oil in this conditioner will soothe and stimulate your scalp to calm any inflammation. The mint will aid in giving the scalp some relief from being dry, itchy, and irritated.
If you are always complaining about flakes, dandruff, and a moderate to severe itchy scalp, then it is time to use this conditioner. Applying this conditioner to sit on the scalp for at least 10 minutes or more will give you the relief you’re looking for.
Restoration & Moisturizing
When all moisture is lost, this is the conditioner to grab. This moisturizing conditioner restores and purifies the hair to give it softness and manageability.
This product contains moisturizing ingredients, such as aloe vera and jojoba oil, that will penetrate and nourish the hair from the inside out.
Benefits Of This Rosemary & Mint Conditioner?
- Quickly softens, detangles, and smooths hair cuticles
- Penetrates the hair cortex to condition and moisturize the hair
- Calms scalp inflammation while nourishing the hair follicles
- Could aid in hair growth by stimulating the scalp’s hair follicles
- Adds shine
- Ideal for itchy, irritated scalps
Is It For All Hair Types?
Yup. No matter if your hair is naturally straight, wavy hair, curly hair, or coily hair, this conditioner is great for all hair types. But for straighter, finer textures, you may want to use something else.
Though it is very moisturizing, it is also heavy and somewhat greasy. It can make fine hair feel heavy and weighed down. For medium to coarse hair, it is perfect because it needs a heavy-duty conditioner for optimal hydration.

How To Use It?
- First, you want to shampoo your client’s hair with a clarifying and moisturizing shampoo. To stay within the Design Essentials family, I recommend using the clarifying Oat Protein & Henna Deep Cleansing Shampoo.
- For your hydrating shampoo, use the Honey Creme Moisture Retention Super Detangling Conditioning Shampoo.
- If you need a scalp treatment shampoo, use the Peppermint & Aloe Therapeutics Anti-Itch Shampoo.
- Next, use the Rosemary and Mint Conditioner. Apply from scalp to ends for maximum coverage. You can comb the product through the hair for even distribution.
For mild to moderate scalp irritation, apply and leave it on for 15 minutes with a plastic cap with no heat. For moderate to severe scalp irritation, apply and leave it on for 20-30 minutes with a plastic cap on with no heat.
For deep penetration effects, place the client under a warm hooded dryer. This will give them a true deep condition and will give them instant scalp relief. Rinse, and prep the hair for styling.
What Are The Ingredients?
There are a lot of good ingredients in this conditioner that make it an all-star stimulating and moisturizing staple. Two of the biggest star components are rosemary and peppermint. Let’s see how each key ingredient helps the hair and scalp.
Key Ingredients
Rosemary oil is from a rosemary plant that comes from the Mediterranean region. It has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial benefits. That being said, it helps reduce scalp irritations by soothing an inflamed scalp. It also helps fight off bacteria on the scalp that could clog up the hair follicles. This results in dandruff, which creates flakes.
Peppermint Oil is an essential oil that will stimulate your scalp’s hair follicles. This will help calm inflammation on your scalp and help promote hair growth. You can call this a win-win.
When the scalp is stimulated, the peppermint oil causes the scalp to relax. The epidermis layer on the scalp then slightly opens up and allows the oil to nourish the hair follicle. This encourages more blood flow to the root, which can promote hair growth.

Other Active ingredients
Jojoba Seed Oil is a lightweight oil that’s extracted from the seeds of the Simmondsia chinensis plant. It’s a moisturizing oil that helps repair damaged hair and control dandruff. Let’s note that this is not a penetrating oil. It is more of a sealant.
It sits on top of the hair cuticles to seal in moisture, soften the hair, and protect it from heat damage. This oil also has antibacterial benefits that will restore the scalp’s natural moisture balance and prevent dandruff.
Lastly, it also helps reduce frizz. So for curly hair and kinky coily hair types that are prone to frizz, this will help control it.
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice is great for moisturizing the hair and scalp. It helps calm an irritated and itchy scalp, reduces dandruff, and even promotes hair growth. Aloe Vera also has a similar chemical composition to keratin, so it helps repair and strengthen the hair.
Speaking of keratin, Silk Amino Acids, aka Sericin, is a natural water-soluble glycoprotein extracted from raw silk.
This protein source helps penetrate the hair shaft to repair damage from the cortex to the cuticles. It also gives the hair an excellent amount of moisture. This ingredient gives the hair shine and strength while smoothing the hair cuticles for a silky feel.
