I’m still on the journey of learning about sustainability and I panicked when I realized I don’t want to commit to only shopping sustainable brands.
Maybe because those brands are a bit expensive and I’m still in the comfort zone of buying good quality clothes from Amazon, Walmart, Target, and such.
But does that make me less sustainable?
Because most of my clothes are thrifted and I’ve had them all for a very long time. I donate more clothes than I buy new ones.
I upcycle clothes I want to keep but make new.
That’s my life.
And while I don’t invest in eco-friendly brands, I invest in all designers. Because I am a true fashion lover.

I may not be a good representative of a sustainable fashion girl like the world may think of me.
But in my eyes, I am.
Because being sustainable means to reduce waste with circular fashion, and that’s all I do.
I believe in thrifting secondhand clothes and creating my own DIY projects with clothes I want to keep for a little longer.
That’s what slow fashion means to me. It means to shop responsibly. It’s okay to want to shop. As a true fashion lover, that’s what we do. We love clothes for the art, the culture, the vibe, and all the feels when we put it on.
If you want to follow the current trends, do it. But do it responsibly.
Being sustainable in fashion doesn’t mean you have to minimize your wardrobe in my opinion. It means wear everything in your closet to the fullest, and donate it when you’re done.
Or upcycle it to keep it longer.
Being sustainable means to be responsible with your clothes and keeping it out the landfills longer. Don’t be greedy, get your fill out of one or two wears and toss it to the side.
Wear that issshhh!!!
Who cares if you wore it more than twice in one month? Who the heck is counting? And if you check those people, make sure they count your rent money for this month. Make sure they are being a good friend and checking on your mental health.
Being sustainable is your own journey. What you do isn’t what the next person is doing and that’s fine.
I have to remind myself that a lot, especially when it comes to this internet.
Just be you!
