Vitamins And Hair Growth

The thing is, we need certain nutrients to help trigger our bodies to stimulate hair growth. And the way to do this naturally is to eat healthy fruits and veggies. The green veggies are the best when it comes to overall wellness.

But when you don’t or can’t eat certain foods, you can take vitamin supplements to help fill the missing void. Vitamins aren’t to totally replace eating more vegetables and fruits. You want to only add to what you have on the inside.

Because certain vitamins and nutrients that are in certain foods are what tell the body to produce collagen and keratin that aid in hair growth.

Pills Vs Gummy Vitamins

I didn’t realize the importance of vitamins until I started taking multivitamins in pill form.

In the past, I was a gummy vitamin kind of girl. Only because I couldn’t swallow those pills at the time. The gummies were easier to consume, and they tasted great.

But one day, I compared the vitamins from one of my favorite gummy multivitamins and a pill multivitamin, and I can tell a huge difference in the variety of vitamins you get.

I noticed that most of the vitamins I needed were in the pill form, not the gummy form. The amount you get from the pills is way more than you receive from the gummies.

Once I got over my mental inability to swallow pills, I reached for a multivitamin for women in the pill form, and within the first week, I noticed a difference in how I felt for the first time.

Below, I took one of my favorite brands: One A Day for Women, and compared the vitamins in their gummies and the pills. Comment below on the differences you spot.

Vitamins That Promote Hair Growth

Different vitamins have different jobs to do for your body. Let’s break down vitamins that will help grow your natural hair.

Biotin

Biotin is one of the most popular, well-known vitamins to help with hair growth. It also helps support healthy skin and longer, thicker nails. Biotin can also be listed as Vitamin B8, which helps produce more keratin in your body.

Keratin helps form the structure of your hair, skin, and nails. This is how biotin helps support hair growth. Here is one of my favorite biotin standalone.

With 120 count rapid-release softgels, the Nature’s Bounty Biotin is perfect for supporting hair growth. Not only is great for hair, but it’s also good for clearer skin and longer nails. This brand has 10,000mcg of biotin in it, which is safe to consume once a day.

Iron

If you have an iron deficiency, this could result in hair loss and dryness. It’s because iron helps our body produce hemoglobin, which is a protein in our red blood cells.

This protein carries oxygen to our cells, which promotes the cells in our body to grow and repair when needed. So if you experience hair shedding from iron deficiency, you need an iron supplement to help repair the cells in your scalp.

Here is a good one to try that helps that helps increase your iron levels while balancing your hormones and improving mental focus. This is great for moms recovering from childbirth.

Active Iron Supplements are a popular choice for balancing hormones and increasing energy levels. Note that this is also considered a multivitamin.

It’s easy on your stomach and won’t lead to constipation afterward. Besides aiding to prevent hair loss, it’s also good for women who need help fighting fatigue and increasing iron needed during pregnancy and postpartum. Lastly, it improves mental performance and helps you focus.

Vitamin A (Retinol)

Vitamin A is best for reproducing and developing healthy cells throughout your body. Retinol is normally associated with vitamin A because it is a form of the vitamin. Retinol helps produce collagen and sebum within your scalp. Sebum is needed to keep your scalp moisturized, which in return helps support healthy hair growth.

When choosing a vitamin A supplement, Natural Nutra is perfect to take. This supplement is great for supporting what the skin needs to be flawless and healthy. And that includes your scalp.

Zinc

Zinc helps produce the protein needed to grow more hair. It is best for cell reproduction and cell repair that also helps balance your hormones. Hormone imbalance can cause hair loss, so this is great to know about zinc.

This is why some women who go through menopause, postpartum, taking birth control, or have chronic stress are experiencing hair loss due to unbalanced hormones.

Folic Acid (Vitamin B11)

Folic Acid, also listed as Vitamin B11, helps form red blood cells and produce more keratin to prevent hair loss and thinning. Since vitamin B11 produces red blood cells and iron makes the protein needed to supply oxygen to those cells, you will see a difference in your hair growth and thickness.

Along with iron, this is why folic acid is so helpful for women who are going through a hormonal change (pregnancy, post-childbirth, menopause), and causes hair thinning and loss.

Another brand I love is Nature Made Folic Acid Supplements. Coming with 250 small tablets for a low price is why everyone chooses them over other brands. Taking one a day, this bottle will last you almost an entire year.

Multivitamins For Hair Growth?

If you want the benefits of the individual vitamins above, but don’t want to take a million and one vitamins at once, you can opt for a multivitamin.

Why? Because you will get more biotin, iron, zinc, folic acid, and vitamin A, that will help stimulate more nutrients to support blood flow to your hair follicles.

When you take a multivitamin, you are getting most of the nutrients you need to help support hair growth. And you will get the most from the pill form, versus a gummy multivitamin.
