School is back in session and it’s time to decide on which braided hairstyles you are getting for the first day of school.

Braids are perfect because you don’t have to worry about styling your hair every day for school. Since the first semester is always the busiest, you do not have time to stress about your hair.

That way, you won’t have to worry about your hair for a couple of months until you take a hair break before fall officially starts. Because we all know that fall is silk press season.

So before, let’s look at the different braided hairstyles you can choose from that will last you til mid-semester.

Classic Cornrows

You can’t go wrong with classic cornrow braids going to the back. But you can do so much more with them.

If you have a creative braider, you can get designs like zig-zags going to the back, swirlies in the front, or even your name somewhere.

But the classics are always a go-to style when you want braids, but don’t want to sit in the salon chair for hours and hours.

Box Braids

Box braids are a protective style that will never go out of style. Starting all the way back in the 90s when Janet Jackson made them very popular with the movie, Poetic Justice, everyone and their mama got box braids.

They usually come with a knot at the root, which in my opinion is the best way to get individual braids. Because I need my knot for extra security. With proper care, this style will last you for months.

I wanted to add this to the post because never have I ever seen box braids in a boho style in a freaking bob. Like what?! How cute is this style? And to add the jewelry on the ends just elevates it. It gives texture and frames her face very well.

Knotless Braids

Knotless braids are just like box braids but without the knot at the root. This gives it a more natural look as if you grew the hair straight from your scalp. Growing popular since the 2010 era, everyone wanted this style because it was so different from box braids.

You can ask your stylist for any size from small to extra-large braids. Though you can’t go wrong with a medium knotless braids protective style, to help save some time in the salon chair. As you see in the image, the creator stylezby_brit did their thing with this style.

Stitch Cornrow Braids

Stitch braids are so popular that everyone now has them. They are basically cornrow braids, but based on how it’s braided gives it a stitched look.

To achieve this look, you will need braiding gel to sleek the hair to the scalp, and take small mini pieces with a comb, fingernail, or stitch ring to the cornrow.

You can get crazy creative with the designs for stitch braids, just like the image above. I’ve never seen a braid pattern in this style before, so I had to feature this creator in this post. 😍

Goddess Boho Braids

Goddess braids are normally knotless individuals with added curly hair that starts from the root to the ends. Also known as boho braids, both have curly ends.

However, some believe that goddess braids are braids where the braid pattern stops mid-way and curly ends follow the ends.

Boho braids have a mix of braids going down to the ends while others have curly ends. It all depends on how the style is executed.

This style is perfect for back to school, vacation vibes, or just because cause it gives what needs to be given every time.

Braided Ponytail

When you want to be a little different, a braided ponytail is very cute when all of the hair is braided into a high, mid, or low ponytail. You can execute this style however you like.

This creator was creative as to use stitch braids, along with very small cornrows to give a high ponytail, that probably goes down to her hips.

With good maintenance, she can wear this style for months.

Or, you can go for a sleek braided ponytail where your hair is straightened into a ponytail and hair is added to the base of the ponytail that’s braided down to your back or hip area.

To achieve this style, you will need to get your hair as straight as possible, by doing a silkpress. Then you will need something to mold your hair as a hair wax and a strong holding hairspray to shape the hair into a ponytail.

Then add hair using braiding hair to attach and braid into your hair.

Fulani braids

Fulani braids are a style that is typically cornrowed braids to the front and sides (optional) with individual braids from the crown to the back. This style has been around for some time, a long time. The origin is from the beautiful Fulani people in West Africa.

But today, braiders are elevating the style by incorporating knotless individuals, and stitched cornrows in the front and sides, with the bohemian curls on the ends.

Braided Baldie

The newest and latest braided trend is the braided baldie or the braided bald head. Created by stylist tookiedidit, where it’s cornrows that are swirled and styled to the scalp with no braids going to the back.

It gives the girls a different and very unique look that is sure to spark up a conversation amongst the crowd. And it also gives the braider total creative control as to what designs to do and how to make it all come together.
